Are you coming to Casablanca? Visiting or moving in? Either way in this post I share my best tips on where to go, what to do and what you can find on a family trip. We are living in Casa since beginning of May this year and I carefully chose places for your trip with your family.
Our baby is now 9 months old and he recently started crawling. Why I’m mentioning this? Because if your little one is also going around the whole place, or even running already, you will agree that you need space and activities.
We were discovering places together to have our favorite ones and stick to them (Like we did in Paris - check out my post about it).
If you are not used to the sunny weather, you will want to go to a place where it is fresh and have a delicious cup of mint tea and of course, shade for your baby/kids.
Outdoors:
There are a few but we have been so far to Tahiti Club by the beach.
They have a space for your kids to play, pool and if you are two adults, you can enjoy a hammam and the other person stays with baby.
There is a part where you can rent skateboards and rollerblades.
Indoors:
they have a massive aquarium where you can take the elevator and see it from the inside.
And an amusement park.
Shopping list:
You can find milk formula and diapers everywhere. Supermarket and pharmacies. They also have few European products and the price is not that different. Sometimes cheaper than in France, (for milks and diapers).
The only thing I found a bit pricy was the bottles and pacifiers. My baby likes different ones, which is awesome because if I forget or I loose one, I can buy any and he will be okay with it (let’s hope so).
If you need some clothes there’s Zara, H&M (most famous) but you also have PLENTY of local stores. Where I always go is to the Maarif and there you will find everything as well as very cute Moroccan style clothes, hats and accessories. Maarif is a local market where you can also find Moroccan bowls, plates, tea cups, hats, shooooes. So definitely recommend to go and visit.
My favorite store so far:
About the culture:
You have no idea until you get there.
What I can say about Casablanca is:
People are super friendly, most of them treat you like you are part of their family and especially if you travel with your family.
I’m originally from Brazil (I also have a post with tips there), and we have a similar culture there which I love and missed whilst living in Europe.
Keep in mind that it is normal for even strangers to hug and kiss your baby. It is part of their culture. So just be warned.
To conclude, if you are coming to Casablanca, send me a message if you would like recommendations or if you are wondering about something I didn't mention here. I will be happy to help!
Bisous,
Carole.
